Formed in 2004, the Featherwaits have already acquired quite a reputation as a Ballroom and Latin American dancesport team. The team is exclusively run by and for university students, both undergraduates reading for a variety of degrees (from Mathematics to English) and graduate students reading for masters or doctorate courses in everything from Law to Medical Science to Mathematical Physics.
Although they are based in Oxford, they compete regularly, both in the UK and abroad, against other student and university teams. At the most recent Intercontinental Student Dance Championships, held in Daytona Beach, Florida, they were the overall most successful team taking second places in both the International and American team match events. Since then the team has gone from strength to strength winning the Leicester Advanced Team Trophy, the Southern Universities Friendly Competition as well as the Bath Winter Invitational and Keele-Leeds Invitational Team titles. They have been semi-finalists for the past two years in the UK National Varsity Championships held in the beautiful Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

The Featherwaits also give regular demonstrations and shows both in Oxford and further afield. They are a favourite with Oxford college balls and are always happy to perform at charity and corporate events. In the past few years the team has been invited to perform as far afield as Australia, Canada and Japan. In May members of the team are traveling to Los Angeles for an invitational showcase and at the end of July 2009 the team will be returning to the Cote d'Azur in France following several successful tours in previous years.
The team is coached by Bruce Richardson
(Ballroom) and Lee Williams (Latin American).
